Signs You Should Consider A Breast Reduction

Some women with ample breasts are quite happy with their body, while other women may experience challenges due to the size of their breasts including pain, less mobility, difficulty finding clothes that fit, and more. Keep reading to discover some signs you should consider a breast reduction.

Reducing a woman’s breast is known as mammaplasty. During the procedure excess fat, skin, and tissue are removed from the breast area.

In order to be considered for mammaplasty, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be in good physical health
  • Be at or close to your ideal weight
  • Have realistic expectations
  • Are old enough to have fully developed breasts
  • Be a non-smoker, or at least not smoke for 2 weeks prior to the procedure

You may be ready to consider breast reduction surgery if you have some of these issues.

Mobility Challenges

If you have large breasts, you probably have a hard time doing much exercise, especially jogging. In fact, researchers have found that the larger a woman’s breast the less likely she is to participate in vigorous exercise.

Difficulty Finding Clothing That Fits

Finding clothes that fit properly is almost impossible with large breasts. Blouses that button don’t lay correctly and bathing suits have no support. Dresses that fit on the top are large and loose on the bottom. It is a frustrating and real problem.

Challenge of Finding A Supportive Bra

For women with large breasts, wearing a bra can be downright painful. Shoulder straps dig into your shoulders leaving marks and making your shoulders and even neck hurt. You often have the pain of investing in very expensive bras so you have enough support.

Pain of Carrying Around Large Breasts

Large breasts can affect your neck, your back, and your shoulders. In addition, when you remove your bra each night you regularly have rashes and irritations under your breasts. Ask Dr. Wendy Gottlieb if these symptoms may allow your surgery to be partially covered by insurance.

Self Consciousness

Any woman with large breasts knows about the stares, the uncomfortable comments, and those feelings of being self conscious when you go out in public.
