Five Things To Do Before Getting Botox Injections

Botulinum toxin treatments, such as Botox, reduce active lines in the forehead lines, frown lines between eyebrows and crow’s feet. In addition to reducing fine lines, Botox is also used to help with migraines and excessive sweating on the underarms. Though the injections are safe and often produce very few side effects, there are a few things to do before getting Botox injections.

Botox treatment in Reston, VA1. Do research on what Botox can and can’t do

Botox builds up over time, which means the results become more noticeable each time you do them. Even though you will notice your lines fade after the first injection, it’s important to stay realistic about the outcome of the injections.

2. Schedule your appointment two weeks prior to big events

It only takes five days to see the full effect of the injections. However, bruising and swelling may occur, especially for the first couple injections. Schedule your appointment two weeks prior to big events to allow for bruising and swelling to go down.

3. Do research on board-certified dermatologists or plastic surgeons

It’s incredibly easy to become trained and licensed to inject Botox. That being said, it’s extremely important to make sure you’re going to a cosmetic dermatologist or cosmetic plastic surgeon in order to ensure the injections are done safely.

4. Stop taking blood-thinning medications two weeks before injections

Avoiding medications, such as Tylenol, Advil and ibuprofen, two weeks before injections can lower the chance of bruising and swelling.

5. Finish errands before the appointment in Reston, VA

The doctor will instruct you to avoid physical activity and errands for three to five hours after the injections are done. Make sure you have time to relax for the rest of the day.
